Focus Areas
For nearly three decades, CEDED has worked alongside grassroots communities, public duty-bearers, civil society networks, and international development partners to strengthen peace, democratic governance, human rights, and sustainable development across South Sudan.
Our operational model bridges deep community trust with rigorous technical compliance. Through our five core, interlinked thematic areas, we transform citizens from passive recipients of aid into active drivers of peaceful, resilient, and accountable societies.

Peacebuilding & Conflict Transformation
CEDED works structurally to prevent conflict, heal historical wounds, and promote sustainable social cohesion. We design and facilitate inclusive, grassroots peace processes that equip women, youth, traditional chiefs, and local institutions with the tools required to mediate disputes, counter hate speech, dismantle ethnic divisions, and build lasting community stability.

Governance & Human Rights
We promote transparent, inclusive, and accountable public administration by strengthening citizen oversight and respect for human rights. Our programs expand civic space, facilitate policy dialogue, and support rule of law architectures, while building the capacity of local legislative councils and public institutions to uphold fundamental democratic principles.

Livelihoods & Skills Development
Economic resilience is vital to sustainable peace. CEDED empowers vulnerable demographics specifically women, unemployed youth, and persons with disabilities by delivering market-driven vocational training, entrepreneurship mentorship, and leadership skills that improve household incomes and accelerate local economic development.

Climate Change & Environment
We promote climate resilience across the Equatorias and expansion states by driving community awareness, environmental conservation, and natural resource management. CEDED actively implements climate-smart agriculture and tree-planting initiatives, enabling agrarian communities to adapt to shifting climate patterns while protecting vital ecosystems.

Institutional Capacity Strengthening
Strong, credible institutions create permanent societal change. CEDED systematically builds the organizational, technical, and fiduciary capacity of local civil society organizations, grassroots networks, and sub-national administrative units improving their strategic planning, resource management, and transparency mechanisms.
